THE ROOT CANAL PROCESS

1. OPEN CANAL – a small section of the tooth is removed to access the the root canals and the pulp within the canals.
2. CLEAN CANAL – After locating all the canals, remember each tooth has its own unique anatomy and number of canals Dr. Baluyan will use specialized tools and antimicrobial solutions to clean the effected tooth. In some instances antibiotic will be deposited in the canals and temporarily restoration is placed in the tooth.  The tooth is r reopened in 1 week for completion of the root canal to ensure complete removal of the bacteria.
3. FILL CANAL – The canal is then filled with an inert, natural cone referred as Gutta-percha in order to eliminate recontamination or infection of the root of the tooth.
4. CLOSE CANAL – The tooth will then be sealed with a permanent restoration such as Onlay/Inlay or crown to prevent any infection or unwanted debris from entering the root canal. Depending on the amount of tooth structure remaining Dr. Baluyan will be able to assess best restoration type in order to prolong longevity of the tooth.
